Wendy Faye McCarley, age 56, of Alexander, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022. She was born November 8, 1966 in Benton, Arkansas. Wendy was a member of Avilla Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker, an avid crafter, and a proud nana.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerrel Bruce and a son, Aaron Masingale.
Wendy is survived by her husband, Ron McCarley; son, Kyle Masingale (Dawn); daughter, Ashley McCarley (fiancée Chase Whitmire); mother, Brenda Bruce; brother, J. J. Bruce (Amanda); four grandchildren, several aunts and uncles, nieces & nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Our county has lost another World War II veteran. In 1942, Emil Seth Caple proudly joined the U.S. Navy where he honorably served until the end of the war. Emil was born to Claude and Edna Caple on February 5, 1918. On December 3, 2022, he passed away in his home in Bryant at the age of 104. On his 100th birthday he was honored to receive a citation from Representative Kim Hammer. When he returned from the war, Emil was employed by Alcoa for 42 years, where he held several positions, from working as a painter to driving at the mines; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and may often been found playing ball or bingo at the Benton Senior Center, where he was a member of the Wildcats bean bag ball team.
Emil is survived by his daughter, Shelia Robinson, and his sons Ron (Bonnie) Caple, Dewayne (Judy) Caple, and Don Caple. Also surviving him are his grandchildren, Charles Robinson, Rhonda McBride, David, Jared, Daryl, Aaron, and Amanda Caple. He was proud of his ten great-grandchildren. Della Davis Caple was married to Emil for 64 years. She died in 2004. Those preceding Emil in death include his parents, his brother, Douglas Caple, his sister Jewel Draper, and dear friend, Virginia Wise.
Emil Caple’s visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 9, 2022, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home, 306 South Main, Benton, AR. His funeral will begin at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will the at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Malvern, AR.
Nancy Elizabeth Keene- Griffin Meyers, 90, of Benton, Arkansas passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Keene and Bulah Goins, both Benton, her siblings, Isaac Keene Jr., Eva Keene-Gossage, Alfred Keene, JT Keene, Floyd Keene; and her son Charles Griffin.
Nancy was born on July 22,1932, She always loved working in her yard, especially in her garden where she grew vegetables and flowers. Some of her favorite pass times included playing card games and dominos with her family. Nancy enjoyed trying out new recipes in cookbooks and creating meals for her family to share. Nancy was notorious for cutting recipes out of magazines and creating her own personal scrapbooks filled with recipes for future family dinners.
Nancy grew up loving the Lord and while she never claimed a denomination, her love of the Lord shined through her vibrant and caring personality. Nancy is survived by her two sisters Sue Pruitt and Cora Powell (Sam), her three daughters Linda Davis (Don), Debbie Johnson, and Sharon Griffin (Lisha). Nancy is also survived by her eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home on Monday, December 12, 2022, at 11:00 P.M. with Chuck Hefley officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, December 11, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 P.M.
Edward Wayne Byars, 78 of Benton, passed away on December 6, 2022. Edward was born on April 10, 1944, to James and Mary Byars. Edward married the love of his life, Nancy, on December 8th, 1962. They spent many wonderful years of happiness together. Edward worked as a Carpenter and was self-employed for many years. Edward was a member of the Baptist Faith and took pride in working in Carpentry, enjoyed fishing, and spending time raising his grandchildren.
Edward is preceded In death by his parents, and one sister, Francis Skasick. He is survived by his Spouse, Nancy Byars, and Brothers, James Byars, and Glen Byars. Son Allen Byars, Daughter Wendy Hendricks (Doug), Seven Grandchildren Noel Farmer (Husband Ryan), Kristan Hendricks, Mckenzy Garner (Josh) Dalton Garner, Grace Byars, Seth Byars, Kara Byars. 3 Great Grandchildren, Ryleigh Ragan, Anna-Faye Hendricks, and Paisley Garner.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 9, 2022, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Roller Alcoa Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Corinth Cemetery in Sheridan AR at 11:00 AM, with Kenneth Click officiating.
