Lois Irene (Wilson) McEwen, age 81, of Benton Arkansas went to meet the good Lord on September 28,2022. Lois was born in Bismarck, North Dakota and raised in Spokane Washington. She went on to marry her husband John McEwen and went to travel to new places around the world. During these adventures she made many friends who were more like family to her and John. Lois and John later had a son named Brian and a daughter named Shelly. The good lord knew that he had chosen the right woman to raise these children. While she was a loving mother during the time, she was here, she was also a loving and supportive wife to her husband John while he was in the U.S. Army. As her life went on, she got to see her daughter marry her husband Gary Thompson and watch them begin to grow their family. Hard times later fell on her as her son Brian Hollis McEwen preceded into death before her. She welcomed her granddaughter Megan Thompson into the world with open arms and warm smiles. Lois watched everyone grow and learn, but she taught us along the way. She was a hard worker at the Benton Services Center but retired. Lois taught all of us to be strong when her husband John Hollis McEwen preceded into death before all of our eyes. Lois was Methodist and active in her church where she helped make up backpacks for school, hats and dolls for CJOHN, Children’s Hospital, and the Rice Depot.
While she passed peacefully in her home she was surrounded by her family and nurse Kara Townsend who cared for her until her last breath was taken. Lois will be deeply loved and missed. Always remember when the sun shines down on us all Lois is watching over us.
We would like to give a very special thank you to Saline Memorial Hospice for helping our family take care of Lois McEwen. The CNAs, Chaplin, and RN were all such kind and caring people towards Lois in her last months and gave peace of mind to her family when they came to assist and help.
