HAVEN M. ASH, 64, of Benton, passed away on June 20, 2018. He was born to Herman E. Ash and Ethyl May Ash-Dickens in Kanawha County, W.Va., on Dec. 1, 1953. Haven worked for Molex for 23 years. He was a hardworking, loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents, and sisters Linda and Rosie. Haven is survived by his daughters, Nona (husband Adam Pielet), Lanica (husband Michael Fischer), and Shae (husband Chris Skinner). He had a total of 17 grandchildren. He had been through poverty, abuse, neglect, addiction, but despite all this, he just wanted to make sure his daughters could all take care of themselves without him. I cannot think of a more giving, loving man & cannot imagine how thing are going to be without him. WANDA LEE STEELE, age 82, of Benton, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018. She was born in Paris, Texas on September 25, 1935; where as a child she learned to make Hot Tamale’s beside her grandfather. Wanda was known as Moo by all her family and friends. She always had a smile on her face, loved people and her dog, Molly. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Lucille Rivers, husband, Samuel E. Steele and two sisters. She is survived by three children, Debbie Clement, Ronnie Steele (Tammy) and Vickie Barnard (Arthur); five grandchildren, Leslie Maroney (Mickey), Lacey Cunningham, Ashley Dyer (Dustin), Justin Steele and Kelly Wright (Blake) and eight great-grandchildren. MARJORIE MARIE SMITH received her heavenly body on June 22nd at home surrounded by family. She was born August 26th 1927 in Nashville, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Eugene (Gene) Smith, her mother Florence Irene Brandon her Father Lyndell Courtney (Dick) Nunn and her Three brothers Jack, Clem and Billy Nunn. She is survived by her proudest achievements one daughter Diann Pitts two sons, Stephen Smith Sr. his wife Cheryl and Mark Smith his wife Lisa. She was known as Gran-Gran, Granny, Nanny and Neena by her granddaughters, Amy, JuliAnn, Sabrina and Brittany and her grandsons, Kyle, Stephen Smith Jr., and Brandon along with five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Hannah, Grace, Michael and Corbin. She lived for God and Family by making sure her children were raised in the church. Highland Heights Baptist where she joined Highland Heights Baptist the first Sunday they had a service as a mission from 1st Baptist in 1955. She served the church by teaching Sunday school working in the nursery, helping providing meals and decorating for various events. She made sure her children were raised in the church. She was an extraordinary wise woman well beyond her education, and she was a shrewd observer of people. Not only was she a mother to her own children but she exuded a motherly love to anyone she connected with from all walks of life. As a homemaker she was able to focus on her favorite hobbies from cooking, gardening and creating memories by decorating for every Holiday with Christmas being her favorite. ALLEN WAYNE YORK was born on September 7, 1943 to the late Robert York and Elizabeth Cooper York in Sardis, Arkansas. He passed from this life to this home in heaven on June 22, 2018 following a brief illness. Wayne is survived by this wife, Dian Jennings York, son, Darby York (Amiee), daughter, Shae McCormick (Ryan), and son, Cody York (Erica), grandchildren, Avery, Chase, Ella, Tyler and Mitchell, sisters, Bobbie Barrett, Kathleen Bevill, Roberta Leonard, Beth Doberstein (Gary) and sister-in-law, Celeste York. He is preceded in death by six brothers, three brothers-in-law, three sisters, and five sister-in-law. Wayne attended North Little Rock High School, and graduated from UCA, and the University of Arkansas. He retired from the Arkansas school for the Deaf after teaching for 30 years. Wayne was an artist, and avid sports fan, music lover, gifted writer and a fierce competitor. He had a great sense of humor, was a generous giver and always rooted for the underdog.
