Barbara Gayle Gilmore, 74 of Gurdon, passed away on March 30, 2023. She was born on March 24, 1949 in Paron, Arkansas to the late John Virgil and Edna Chastain Taylor. Barbara graduated from Paron High School, where she was a high school Basketball star and later attended college at UCA of Conway, achieving a nursing degree and Nursing Home Administrator Degree; receiving many national awards in Nursing Home Administration.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sherman Kelly Gilmore, sisters, Billy Sue Hunt and Kathy Blake, brothers, Rogie Taylor and J.W. (Gub) Taylor.
Barbara is survived by her son, Michael Bair of Blevins, step daughters, Kim (Darren) Fredrick and Karen Shelnut, both of Benton; sisters, Virgie Fischer and Pat Garrett, grandchildren, David Bair, Kory Shelnut, Kayla Shelnut, Dustin Hull and Matthew Hull; eight great grandchildren.
Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home will be on Tuesday, April 4th with Brother Gary Gipson officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Ashbys, Tuesday before services, 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Barbara was an inspiration to her family, friends and peers, who will all greatly miss her.
Shelby Lynn Smith, 59, of Traskwood, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and savior on Saturday, April 1st, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.
Shelby loved her family fiercely and her home was always open to anyone. She treasured her grandchildren and spent many of her days outside watching them play or inside baking with them. She loved sewing, pet rescue, and her dogs. She was a godly woman who loved to praise the Lord and didn’t let anyone dictate how she lived. She will be greatly missed.
Shelby was proceeded in death by her mother and father, Brice and Ola Mae Bodiford of Traskwood, her sister Jeanette Bodiford, brothers Kenneth and Darrel Bodiford, nephews Charles Padget and Darrel Bodiford Jr.
Shelby is survived by her husband Sammy Smith Sr. of Traskwood, Ark. Her Sister Karen Gross (Michael), her brother Keith Bodiford and her children: Missy Smith, Terri Goad, Tamarun Hill (Steven), Sammy Smith Jr. (Angie), Brad Hogue (Jamie), Emmett Carver, J.R. Patterson (Maggie), Scotty Smith(Marcia), Mary Stephens (Billy), Amber Smith (Xavier), and Jerry Smith; 28 grandkids and 6 great-grand kids.
The memorial service is to be held on Saturday April the 8th 2023 at the Traskwood community center at 1:00 pm. Flowers can be sent to 1018 House Rd. Traskwood, AR.
Warren William “Papa” Sweatt, 82, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023. He was born to the late, Therman A. Sweatt and Ruby N. Armstrong (Graves) on Wednesday, November 20th, 1940, in Hope, Arkansas. Warren is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike Armstrong. Warren is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barbara; his daughter, stepdaughter and stepson; and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A special thank you to Warren’s wonderful hospice care team for their support and care during his time of need. We cannot thank you all enough. Warren will forever be in our hearts and missed for eternity.
