Arthur Franklin “Tinker” Green, Sr., 74 of Benton, passed away on January 22, 2018. He was born on September 15, 1943 to the late Leo Edward and Mildred Roberts Green. Tinker graduated from Bryant High School in 1962. He was the owner of Benton Packing Company. Tinker was an avid golfer, was the Arkansas Champion Drag Racer multiple times and owned the “Badest” Ford in Arkansas. Tinker was preceded in death by the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Janette Green. He leaves to cherish is memory, son, Artie (Dallas) Green of Alexander, daughter, Tracie (Brian) Rich of Alexander, brother, Don (Bonnie) Green of Cabot, grandchildren, Tyler Green, Kruse Rich, Lucas Ward, Brody Rich, Corley Ward and Piper Green, great grandson, Mattox Ward. Charles Drake, age 83, of Benton, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018. He was born May 4, 1934 in Vicksburg, Missouri. Charles was a U.S. Army Veteran and a truck driver for A.B.F. He was a member of Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elise Drake and a step-daughter, Robbie Mobley. Geraldine Haley Robertson, age 94, of Benton passed away on Monday January 22, 2018. She was born August 28, 1923 in Scott, Arkansas. Geraldine was retired from the South Central Bell Telephone and a member of the First Baptist Church of Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie Andrew Haley and Ollie Cloud Haley, husband Dalphus “Robby” Robertson, four brothers and two sisters. John Milton Steward, 75, of Benton passed away peacefully Tuesday. John was preceded in death by parents Dean Steele and Edwin Steward, siblings Barbara and Jim Steward. He is survived by two sons, David Steward of North Little Rock, AR and Allen Steward of Payson, Arizona; four grandchildren – Alison, Mallory, Taylor and Jordan Steward, and four siblings; Tina Lovell of Benton; and Tanya Jordan, Judy Rich and Joe Wolf all of Nashville, TN. John was a loving son, brother and father. He was an even better Papaw who was crazy about his four grandchildren who loved him very much. He grew up a fun-loving boy who loved playing sports and was a good athlete. He volunteered and served his country proudly as a Crypto Machine Operator in the U.S. Army and earned the rank of Sergeant, as well as the National Defense Service Medal. After his military service, John spent his career mostly as a sales associate in the insurance and auto sales industries. Well known as ‘Poppin’ to the countless friends he made throughout his life. John cared deeply for all of his friends, he will be remembered by his sharp sense of humor and fondly as the life of the party. John’s bright and genuine smile was infectious. He was a die-hard Razorback fan and avid horse-racing enthusiast, but most of all he enjoyed being with his friends and family. John was of the Baptist faith and was confident in moving on to an eternal life in heaven. He lived a full life and knew he was fortunate to get to see and do so many things throughout his time here. He will be missed tremendously by those he left behind, but his friends and family will have many fond memories of him to cherish. Carolyn Marie Shuburte, age 76, of Benton, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 in Beebe. She was born September 2, 1941 in Hot Springs. Carolyn was a housewife and a member of the Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Edith Ates Harris, daughter, Samantha Shuburte, and a sister, Jean Pruitt. Ronnie Hawkins, age 67, of Hot Springs Village, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Ronnie was born November 12, 1950 in West Helena to Vera Cobb Hawkins and Roy Hawkins Jr. He is preceded in death by his parents. Ronnie is survived by his wife, Donna Carr Hawkins; his sons, Sandy Hawkins (Mindy) of Hot Springs, and Shawn Hawkins (Angela) of Benton; a sister, Joetta Laswell of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Hailey Belle, Riley Jade, and Reece Taylor; and many other extended family members and friends. Ronnie was an active member of Balboa Baptist Church. He was a dedicated educator and umpire for 46 years. He was a volunteer coach at Jessieville, but most of his coaching career was spent in boys basketball at Sheridan. He loved coaching and umpiring for the love of the game. In honor of Ronnie and his love for his family and his passion for sports, take a special moment and dedicate it to spending time with your family or attend a ballgame. Lonnie Ray Mitchell, 76 of Benton, passed away on January 16, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born on June 2, 1941 to the late, Louie and Myrtle Mitchell in Hardy, Arkansas. Lonnie enjoyed going camping and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Lonnie and his wife, Tressie, have a love for children; throughout their marriage they have fostered over 72 children in Foster Care. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and one brother. Emilee Caroline Squires, age 67 of Bryant, passed away on January 23, 2018. She was born to the late, Carroll and Emaline Powell in Pocahontas, Arkansas on August 19, 1950. Caroline loved to read and do cross-word puzzles. She loved the outdoors and found beauty in the birds, butterflies, flowers and hummingbirds. She always had a soft place in her heart for her dogs, Charlie, J. D. and Ruger. Caroline is preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Ryan Baker, and momma, Loretta. Billy Joe Styles, 83, of the Sardis Community in Bauxite, died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at his home with his loved ones present. He was born April 17, 1934 to Joseph Johnson and Mary Elizabeth Patterson Styles in Sardis, Arkansas. He graduated from Bryant High School, served as a Private in the Army while stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington, and retired from Alcoa. Billy Joe loved the Lord and loved to talk about the Bible or a recently read nonfictional Biblical book or a sermon. He started his day with Billy Graham’s article in the paper, followed by the Sports section. Billy Joe was an avid Harding Bison, Arkansas Razorback, and Bryant Hornet fan, and followed most games on the radio. He loved his family and his church family at Northside Church of Christ. He loved hunting mainly because it involved family. Farming was his gift, and he blessed many with the fruits of his labor by supplying produce to church members, to the doctor’s office staff, and to family. Furthermore, he shared with the community, by keeping a bed of greens along the road for anyone to pick. Billy Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Letha Smith Styles; children: Billy (Julie), Eva Lynn Beck (Johnny) of Benton, Jody (Andrea), and Lance all of Sardis; grandchildren: Adam Styles, Amanda (Devon) Baker, Barry (Bekah) Styles, Dawn Styles, Joel Beck, Joshua (Lisa) Styles, Lacey Styles, Lance Styles, Lauren (Brice) Roewe, Morgan Styles, and Noah Styles; great grandchildren: Abbie Styles, Austin Martin, Justin Martin, London Styles, and Luna Styles; siblings; AV “Bud” (Dorthy), Sylvia (Bill) Duncan, and Mary (Bob) Wagner. Rosetta Jean Edmonson, 87, of Benton, went to be with her Lord on January 20, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on October 30, 1930 to William Daniel Looper and Laretta King. She married Leon Edmonson on September 24, 1949 in Benton, AR. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lilburn Leon Edmonson; her children: Donna Edmonson, Danny (Regina) Edmonson, Jackie (Johnny) Dawson and Harold (Renee) Edmonson; her 11 grandchildren: Trina (Jon) Lindsay, Felicia (Daniel) McBay, Shaun Ferguson, Emilee Meyers, Ryan (Bonnie) Dawson, Rebecca (Bryan) Jones, Matthew (Kym) Edmonson, Tanner (Candace) Smith, Tad Smith, Kelsey (Caitlyn) Crews and Dustin Crews; her 23 great grandchildren and her two great-great grandchildren. She loved cooking, sewing, crocheting and all of God’s little creatures—including hummingbirds and butterflies. Her greatest joys were her family and her faith. She came from a small family. However, after she married Leon, she gained nine brother-in-laws and seven sister-in-laws who were very special to her along with numerous nieces and nephews. Callie (Lyndylyn) Ruth Johnson, 74 years young, went to be with the Lord January 22, 2018. Mary Margaret Waleszonia Dennis went home to her Heavenly Father on January 19th, 2018. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on July 6th, 1941 to George L. and Sadie Smith Waleszonia. Sharon Horton, age 69, of Traskwood, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018. She was born February 20, 1948 in Malvern to the late Rufus Fred and Hassie Bell (Williams) Southerland. She attended Traskwood Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. She graduated from Poyen High School in 1965. She worked as a civil service secretary. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Horton, and sister Emogene Ballard. Survivors are her son Steve Horton (Misti) of Malvern, daughters Janna Burkett (Teddy), and Sherry Ritchie (Lee) both of Traskwood, brother Noble Southerland of Foreman, and Virginia Priebe of Poyen, grandchildren Josh, Ryan, Kyle, Shane, Rebecca, Lily and Levi, great-grandchildren Adisen, Rylan, Carson, Sterling, Avery and numerous nieces and nephews.
