To celebrate National Mentor Month in January, North Little Rock Police Officer Tommy Norman came to Benton, Arkansas to speak to kids and parents at the Boys & Girls Club of Saline County. See video below.
It was a regular Parent Night at the building where the teens hang out after school. Except on this night, the speaker was an unintentional social media legend. Officer Norman practices community policing at his job of 20 years. He didn’t always want to be a police officer, and got discouraged at one point, but Norman says one night in 2001 changed his life. He also tells about the surprise Bruno Mars had waiting for him when the world-famous singer came to town.

On the evening of Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Benton Teen Club at 105 Cox Street, Officer Norman spoke about his youth, how he became a police officer, his newfound fame because of social media, and how anyone can make a difference in their community.
