Myka Bono Sample announced Tuesday that she is seeking re-election for the office of Saline County Circuit Clerk. Born and raised in Saline County, Sample was elected Circuit Clerk in 2014, and the first woman elected to that position in the county’s history. Prior to being elected, she served as Deputy Clerk for nine years and as a juvenile probation officer for four years.
“Being elected as the custodian of record to maintain accurate legal records for the citizens of Saline County is very important to me and I take the responsibility very seriously,” said Sample.
Sample currently serves as 1st Vice President of the Arkansas Circuit Clerks Association and was appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson as a board member of the Electronic Recording Commission. Arkansas Supreme Court Chief Justice Dan Kemp appointed Sample, one of two Circuit Clerks, to the board of Arkansas’ first Strategic Planning Committee, and she also serves as a board member of the legislative committee of the Arkansas Circuit Clerks Association, as well as several other committees through the Administrative Office of the Courts. Sample is the first Saline County Circuit Clerk who completed and received her certification for the Court Management Program through the Administrative Office of the Courts.
“In the past seven years, we have made several changes within the office to be more efficient by providing exceptional service to the citizens of Saline County, saving taxpayer money along the way. We have continued to make older court records and real estate records available online to the public by scanning and entering information into the database, which, in turn saves time for title companies, banks, and citizens who research records from their home or office,” Sample said. “We have streamlined the clerk’s office by cross-training, utilizing new programs, and developing great teamwork skills within the office. The clerk’s office has also implemented electronic recording for the land records, e-filing “lite” for the court records, passport services, property fraud and honor rewards for the local veterans,” added Sample.
In 2018, Sample and her staff received the Citizens Service Award for Property Fraud Protection, were finalists for the Citizens Service Award for Electronic Recording and for the Honor Rewards Program for local veterans, and received Honorable Mention for the Citizens Service Award for Passport Services from the Arkansas Digital Government Transformation.
“It has been my pleasure serving our citizens of Saline County and I hope to continue to do so by asking for your vote in the 2022 election. Saline County is my home and I enjoy working for the citizens of this great county.”
Sample loves spending time with her friends, family, and especially her grandkids. She has been married to Billy Sample for 33 years. They have three sons, Matt (Rachel), Aaron (Melissa), and Briar, two grandsons, Maverick and Rowan, three granddaughters, Raelynn, Sutton, and Vivian. She is the daughter of Judy and the late Jiggs Bono, daughter-in-law of Jackie and the late Truman Sample.
