The video below was taken on Wednesday afternoon by Patrick Lunsford in a business parking lot at Springhill Road and Highway 5 North.
I don’t know if you do this. I don’t know if you’re in this video. But… if you’re thinking about cutting through a parking lot or private property instead of taking that intersection, don’t. Nevermind that this business has signs up saying not to do it. Those are just there to warn drivers – of what? It’s a moving violation and you can get a ticket. Here’s the legal code for it:
27-51-104.
Careless and prohibited driving.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to drive or
operate any vehicle in such a careless manner as to
evidence a failure to keep a proper lookout for other
traffic, vehicular or otherwise, or in such a manner
as to evidence a failure to maintain proper control on
the public thoroughfares or private property in the
State of Arkansas.
(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to operate
or drive any vehicle on the public thoroughfares or
private property in the State of Arkansas in viola-
tion of the following prohibited acts:
(2) Driving onto or across private property to
avoid intersections, stop signs, traffic control de-
vices, or traffic lights
Especially after local law enforcement sees this video!
