Over 300 people gathered at Benton River Center parking lot Saturday night to watch WWE star John Cena in a drive-in style movie event. From the socially-distanced comfort of their vehicles, locals watched “Playing With Fire,” featuring Cena, Keegan-Michael Key and John Leguizamo. The movie was sponsored by Rib Crib and Richardson Engineering. Screen and projection were provided by CineArk, LLC.
Benton Mayor Tom Farmer recently announced a number of Benton events have been cancelled due to increasing COVID-19 numbers in Saline County. Exceptions were made for this drive-in event and the upcoming drive-in fireworks event since patrons could remain in their vehicles and maintain social distancing. If there’s enough interest from the community, and other sponsors come forward, it’s possible this could turn into a reoccurring event.
This video by William Burgess shows all the people that came to watch. Do you see yourself?
