If you’re up at around 2:00 a.m. Central time, on Wednesday morning, May 26th, take a look in the sky for a Super Flower Blood Moon, which sounds like a rock band, but it’s not. Then as a bonus, there will be a lunar eclipse.
It’s called Super Flower Blood Moon because several moon events are happening at once. The moon will be at it’s closest to Earth, appearing larger and brighter – that’s the super part. It is happening during the blooming season of Spring, so there’s the blooming part. And finally, Earth’s shadow on the moon will look red, so there’s the blood part.
In Arkansas, we won’t get as good of a view as the western states will, but if you do want to be sure to see it, but you can watch a live feed from different cities as follows (times are Central):
- Los Angeles CA beginning at 3:45 a.m… https://griffithobservatory.org/event/lunar-eclipse-online-broadcast-may-26-2021
- Flagstaff AZ beginning at at 4:30 a.m… https://lowell.edu/event/streaming-lunar-eclipse-live

The best viewing times will be after 6:10 a.m. Central time.
