There is an update to the article yesterday of a Little Rock man who is in jail on 50,000 bond after being arrested for the alleged armed kidnapping of a woman in Benton.
Benton Police Department (BNPD) responded to Rivendell Behavioral Health Services around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, for a reported disturbance with weapons. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a female victim, who reported her friend was forced into the suspect’s vehicle at gunpoint. The victim stated the suspect punched her as she tried to check on the other victim.
The suspect was reportedly wearing a ski mask, however, witnesses were able to identify the him as the kidnapped victim’s boyfriend. BNPD detectives, with the assistance of Little Rock Police Department, were able to locate and seize the suspect’s vehicle at his residence.
The suspect, Monterio Shorter, age 25, of Little Rock, was detained by Saline County Sheriff’s Office deputies during a traffic stop on the victim’s vehicle a short time later on Highway 70 in the Lonsdale area. The victim was unharmed.
Shorter was charged with Kidnapping- a class Y felony, Aggravated Assault on Family- a class D felony, Aggravated Assault x3- a class D felony, Terroristic Threatening- a class D felony, and Battery 3rd– a class A misdemeanor. He was booked in the Saline County Jail and given $50,000 bond.
