I received a text on the MySaline hotline 501-303-4010 Sunday afternoon that went exactly like this:
“What is happening on midland road? When we passed there were 12 cop cars… scso, Bryant and troopers. Since then 8 more have passed going that direction. We saw one policeman dressed in swat gear.”
I followed up with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, and Lt. Jeffery Silk stated that there was a suspect out of Grant County who was being pursued and fled. He then got in another car with someone. We don’t know if he knew the person in the car or who was driving at this point, but Grant County law enforcement was still pursuing him until he fled in foot again.
Shortly afterward, a vehicle was reported stolen in Saline County and that is when Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) got involved. They chased the suspect to a home in the 1500 block of Midland Road. Lt. Silk said the SCSO saw suspect go inside and then they saw a woman come out, saying “He’s in there.” It is not known at this time of the is a relationship between the suspect and this woman.
If you were listening to the police scanner, you would have heard Brendan Wilson or Williams as the suspect name. The suspect had made it a barricade situation and Lt. Silk said they initially were talking through a loud speaker to get him out. After some research, deputies were able to get his cell number and they called him directly. Shortly thereafter, deputies arrested the suspect and turned him over to Grant County authorities. Saline County does not have any charges against the suspect at this time.
Nice work, everyone involved. Thank you for getting the danger off the street.
