Come to honor those who lost their lives while fighting for our country. The Saline County Memorial Day ceremony will be held Monday, May 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. The location will be at the Veterans Memorial on the southeast corner of the Saline County Courthouse.
According to archival records, approximately 6,035 Arkansans have been killed in action since record-keeping began. This figure includes casualties from World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the first Gulf War, and post 9/11 conflicts.
This year’s ceremony has been organized by the American Legion Auxiliary Post 19, Saline County, City of Benton, First United Methodist Church-Benton, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames 17th Century, and several other organizations.
“We are so grateful for those who choose to participate in the Memorial Day event and for the community’s support. It is our responsibility to honor the fallen and to remember they all that they gave to make our freedoms possible,” said Belinda Jones, American Legion Auxiliary Post 19
The ceremony will include an invocation, pledge of allegiance, national anthem, remarks from Brigadier General Sam Gibson, laying of a wreath, taps, and salute to the flag.
