The City of Benton’s own Lyle Park was named Arkansas Small Project of the Year recently at an engineering awards event. Parks Director Stephanie Jones and Assistant Director Junior Rodemeyer were invited to the event. McClelland Consulting Engineers (MCE) designed the upgrade to Lyle Park in 2022.
The project included parking, sidewalks, accessibility, and river access improvements. MCE received multiple honors at this event, the Arkansas Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Annual Conference in Jacksonville, Arkansas.

City of Benton to close Lyle Park access to Saline River for renovations
The City of Benton will be renovating Lyle Park beginning Monday, June 20th. This will require a temporary closure of the area.
Weather permitting, crews will close Lyle Park beginning Monday, and it will remain closed for roughly four months.
Construction at Lyle Park will include:
- Parking,
- sidewalks,
- accessibility, and
- river access improvements.

If you are putting into Saline River upstream of Lyle Park, you should be cautious of this closure. The following locations will have no pass through down river at Lyle: Peeler Bend, Riverside Grocery, Paul Wright Ford & Moore Ford.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching Lyle Park as there is no turnaround access.

Saline Crossing – open
Paul Wright Ford – open
Moore Ford – open
Saline River Canoe will remain in operation during this closure.
