A Little Rock Police Officer was arrested Thursday, after being investigated for Domestic Battery and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, according to an arrest report from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.
Due to the nature of the individual’s job as an undercover detective, his name has not been released.
Narrative from the police report says that Saline County Deputies responded to a disturbance call on March 31, 2022 at about 10:05 p.m. A woman advised that the father of her children brought them home and an altercation began.
The woman stated to law enforcement that she texted the man telling him she didn’t feel safe with him coming to pick up the children at her residence. She stated that she has neurological issues and severe vision impairment due to past abuse and wanted to meet him in a public place. The man didn’t respond to the text and arrived at her residence at around 5:00 p.m. and picked up their children.
The woman said when he returned, he was upset and she asked him to leave. He became “forceful” with her, grabbing her left arm, causing bruising. According to her statement, he threw her on the couch and began choking with both hands until one of the children began yelling at him to stop hurting his mother. After this, the man left the residence.
The report says when deputies arrived the child came to the door with his mother and advised “Daddy choked my Mommy,” and began saying “daddy” while punching in the air.
The woman advised there have been numerous other incidents while living in Little Rock. She said the man would tell her that nothing would happen to him because he was a Police Officer in the City. In January of this year, the woman said she made a report after he choked her, leaving marks on her neck. She said she made his department, but no charges were filed.
According to the police report from Thursday, a Deputy made contact with the subject by phone to attempt to obtain a statement but he denied, stating that he was already at home and he was not coming to write a statement. The Deputy gathered info at the scene of the woman’s residence, then called the man back to advise he would be coming to transport him to the Saline County Detention Center to be charged.
The Little Rock Police Department has started an internal investigation and the Officer, who has been with LRPD since 2017, has been placed on paid administrative leave.
