Homeschool HourDate: Wednesday, October 23, 2024 Join us as we learn through art, music, STEAM activities, problem solving, team building, and more. This will be a fun, supplemental, social event for ages 4 – 18. The age groups will be divided up as follows: 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, and 13-18. Accessibility Photographing/Recording Storytime Fun!Date: Wednesday, October 23, 2024 Storytime Fun is a storytime program intended for ages 3-5, though all are welcome. It will include stories, songs, some puppets and a craft or gross motor activity to prepare preschool friends for kindergarten. Storytime Fun will help with developing children’s social, emotional, cognitive, creative and physical skills and get them ready for school! Makerspace Open HoursDate: Wednesday, October 23, 2024 Drop by the Makerspace to utilize our amazing array of materials and equipment. Work on a project or learn something new! During Open Hours, Makerspace functions as an open workspace stocked with numerous tools, materials and equipment for independent creative time. Bring a project you’re working on or come with your imagination and create to your heart’s content. Take home what you make! It will include stories, songs, bouncing rhymes, finger plays, shakers and scarves, plus free play time where parents and caregivers can chat and make new friends outside of the house while their little ones play in a safe and welcoming environment. The Pencil PackDate: Thursday, October 24, 2024 Kids 4th – 7th grade can learn about journalism and help create content for our very own tween library newspaper. Interested in journalism, writing, drawing, or photography? Come join the Pencil Pack! Add your spark to our monthly library newspaper at this journalism club for beginners. We’ll learn the basics of writing a good article and create content to be published in our monthly library newspaper just for kids. We will meet every other Thursday starting on September 12. “Something is killing people in Palebank Village, and if your adventuring party doesn’t stop it, you might be next.” In this Dungeons & Dragons 5e (2014 edition) campaign, you and your party will be exploring the frozen tundra of the Greying Wildlands trying to discover the origin of this horrible sickness. Card CollectiveDate: Thursday, October 24, 2024 Sometimes it’s hard to make it to a local game or hobby story, but every Thursday afterschool at 4 o’clock for grades 4th-7th the Benton Library will have an area dedicated to tweens who would like to trade, play, or collect different card games! Whether it’s Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Reading Dragons and Friends, Magic the Gathering, Disney’s Lorcana, or any other card collector game, we’d love to have you. Come make new friends and play and trade every week. Accessibility Photographing/Recording Stitches and Cozy MysteriesDate: Thursday, October 24, 2024 Drop in and stitch a while as we watch a lovable village priest solve murders in an idyllic 1950s English town. The Stitch Reference Table will be open to answer any crochet, knit, or sewing-related questions. Hot water and assorted teas will be available for your sipping pleasure. The class will be held weekly from 10-11 at the main library in Benton. Registration is required for this event.
