State Representative Lanny Fite announced his intent to seek a fifth term in the Arkansas State House of Representatives. Fite is currently serving his fourth term as a State Representative in District 23, which includes a portion of Saline County.
He currently serves as chair of the House Committee on City, County and Local Affairs, and as a member on the House Committee on Revenue & Taxation, the House Rules Committee, and the Arkansas Legislative Council (ALC), the governing legislative body that reviews contracts and expenditures. “Unlike Washington, we have managed the state budget very well since I was first elected to the House,” said Fite. “We’ve controlled spending in a responsible way, have delivered on important tax cuts, and we are still generating a surplus. The Governor plans to seek another $300 million in individual income tax cuts later this month and I will be supporting those cuts. It will make us more competitive and keep our economy moving.”
The 2021 legislative session was a very successful session for Fite, locally. He worked with the Saline County prosecutor and the Saline County sheriff to sponsor and pass legislation to keep habitual DUI offenders off the street (Act 274). He helped pass Act 507, which enabled the funding needs of the new Saline County Career & Technical Education Center (Act 507). Additionally, Fite passed Act 752, which helped establish broadband improvement districts and co-sponsored consumer focused Act 1015. which protects seniors and retirees from predatory practices financial exploitation.
Fite is committed to the people of Saline County. “It has been my honor and privilege to serve the people of District 23 in the House of Representatives. As a legislator, my job is to stand up for the values of Arkansans and be a consistent voice for the people of Saline County,” stated Fite. “My track record shows I am a proven conservative, and I want to continue working with our people to ensure fiscal responsibility, protect life, and create a pro-business environment that will help us grow, expand, and provide opportunities for hard-working Saline County families. I am excited about the opportunity to continue fighting for policies that will bring good jobs to our state, lower the tax burden on Arkansans, and stand up for life and Second Amendment rights.”
