Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge announced June 3, 2015 that a Benton man has been arrested for distributing, viewing and possessing sexually explicit conduct involving a child, a Class C felony, after an investigation by the Attorney General’s Cyber Crimes Unit.
On Wednesday, June 3, agents arrested Lance Smith, 26, of Benton at his residence and seized one laptop, a hard drive and a flash drive. The seized electronic evidence is undergoing further forensic examination at the Attorney General’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit forensic lab in Little Rock.
The Cyber Crimes Unit began investigating Smith after agents suspected that child pornography was being viewed at his residence.
We will likely have to wait until morning to get more detailed info from the Attorney General’s office, but at this time, I can confirm that Lance Smith of River Ridge Road in the Salem area of Benton is being held at the Saline County detention center on charges of Child Pornography.
