Hey book lovers! This year, I am really trying to actually read what I say I’m going to read. Typically for me, if I say a book is on my To Be Read list, it stays there collecting dust and never getting read. But this year I’ve done pretty good so far! So, in hopes of staying accountable I’m sharing three books I plan to read this month.
Backyard Starship by J.N. Chaney and Terry Maggert
Ok, this might be cheating because I’ve already started this one. But I am planning to finish it this month. A man goes to inherit his grandfathers farm after his death and finds a spaceship in the barn! It’s a fun sci-fi book. Very reminiscent of Cowboy Bebop/Guardians of the Galaxy/Star Trek so far. I’m enjoying it immensely, but it is over 600 pages long and I am more of a quick read kinda girl. So, I’m taking it a little at a time.
Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead by Elle Cosimano
I downloaded this audiobook from the library, it’s the second in a series and I adored book one! I can not wait to see what hijinks Finlay and her nanny/bestie Vero get into this time. According to the synopsis there will be some action with the Russian mob this time around. Seriously, can’t wait!
The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner
Ok, so I got this because it’s historical fiction and the premise kind of reminds me of Giulia Tofana who actually sold poison to women who wanted to kill their husbands in the 1600s. Wild! This is the story of an apothecary who sells various poisons to women trying to escape abuse and oppression. While the author says her characters and story aren’t based on any particular real life person, I can’t help but make a comparison. I’m really excited to get into it.
