All The Green Books on My Bookshelf
Yesterday was St. Patrick’s Day! I decided to pull all the books with green covers off my shelves and see which I could review for y’all. Turns out, I only own three green books. (To be honest, I’m being generous calling the Ask Again, Yes cover green…) Annnnnnd I already reviewed one of them here. So, I decided to go with a book list instead!
Seven Dirty Secrets by Natalie D. Richards
It’s a young adult thriller that gave me hints of Agatha Christie with the mystery revolving around a girl and her friends. The book is very twisty, very addictive, and heavy on the tension. If you have read one of Richards’ other books “Five Total Strangers” then you’ll probably find them very similar in tone. You can read this one in no time, not only is it a lower page count, it’s also the epitome of a page turner.
Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane
Ok, so the cover of this one is easily just as much blue as it is green. But for St. Patrick’s Day we’re all calling it green, ok? I’ll be honest this one wasn’t my favorite. As my grandmama used to say it was “slower than molasses in January.” I decided not to finish it twice before actually finishing it. I guess I would classify it as a love story or maybe a coming of age story. But only for lack of a better description. It’s got it’s moments, but I found it kind of sad and depressing. Also the storyline covers like forty years, and it was difficult for me to differentiate. This one got major rave reviews when it came out, so maybe my tastes are just not sophisticated enough for it.
The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
I did review this one here sometime last year. And I loved it. It’s technically YA, but I didn’t have any trouble relating to the story. I think I mentioned that it gave me Knives Out vibes, and that’s the most accurate way I can describe it. It’s mysterious. The characters are all vibrant and interesting. The mystery sucked me in right away. Honestly, I’m kicking myself as I write this because I haven’t continued the series yet! What is the matter with me?
