Book: Artemis
- Author: Andy Weir
- My rating: 4 out of 5 Moons
I find myself describing this book to others as “Oceans 11 meets Armageddon.” This is by far one of the coolest books I’ve read. A heist story – on the moon! Andy Weir, who also wrote The Martian, transports us to a world where it is completely logical and achievable for us to colonize the moon. There is a lot of science presented in a very easy to comprehend fashion as a part of the story.
Our main character, Jasmine, is just the right amount of smart and cynical, with a dash of “heart of gold.” Her team of misfits are all unique and lovable. As any good heist story should have, there are lots of twists and turns and aha! moments. While many stories like this could be all about the explosions and adventure, this story actually has meaningful characters and relationships. I was pleasantly surprised. It’s the perfect blend of smart and exciting!
I recommend this book to you if you enjoy science fiction, heist stories, mysteries, or if you like The Martian (the movie or the book). I promise as you’re reading it will play out like a movie in your mind! There is some adult language and mention of adult activities like drugs, sex, alcohol, etc. in this story, so if any of that makes you uncomfortable don’t say I didn’t warn you!
P.S. IMDB.com lists Artemis with a release date of 2021! Read it before it hits the big screen!
