This summer, my book loving dreams came true and we got a bookstore! And it seems like fate because the shop is called “The Bookworm.” So, I think it’s only fitting to mention it here on The Bookworm Diaries.
I went in and the shelves were FULL and well organized. When I walked in, the owner was actively helping another patron find some books/recommending books. I definitely think it’s the kind of place you could go and ask for help finding what you’re looking for.
I went straight for the non-fiction/true crime areas. Let’s face it, I have to make a plan before I enter a bookstore. Kind of like grocery shopping when you’re hungry… I spend way too much money and end up leaving with a bunch of stuff I didn’t need. Anyone who knows me knows that I am big true crime fan. I love all the documentaries, all the podcasts, and all the novels!
I’ve reviewed at least one Ann Rule book here before, and I’m always on the lookout for more of her work. She’s the queen of true crime writing! So, I was incredibly happy to find so many at the Bookworm (and cheap, too!) there was a whole wall of true crime. So many to choose from.
I snagged three titles that I’ve heard are some of her best and I’ve already finished one of them. The I-5 Killer, Every Breath You Take, and Dead by Sunset we’re my picks.
On my way to the checkout counter with my arms full of Ann Rule, I grabbed Hush by Anne Frasier. Another author I’ve reviewed here before! If Ann Rule is the queen of true crime, Anne Frasier is the queen of suspense that FEELS like true crime. Hush is her first suspense novel and I can’t wait to get into it.
Honestly, I was proud of myself that I made it to the checkout with only four books. And the prices were so good I didn’t even feel the tiniest bit guilty! The owner also told me that if I leave his stickers on, he’ll buy them back from me when I’m done with them. Um, what? That sounds amazing AND just another reason for me to go back.
If I hadn’t been pressed for time I think I could have spent a lot longer browsing the shelves. I walked away with four books, spent less than $20, and I can’t wait to go back!
