Last year, I really took a break from setting any kinds of reading goals or even keeping track of my reading. And it was super relaxing…but also, I wish I had kept track. So, here I am this year setting goals and trying to keep track. I feel like I say this every year and never succeed, but once again, I want to read more nonfiction. Typically my nonfiction reads are true crime, but I’m expanding my horizons this year! *fingers crossed* Here are three nonfiction titles on my “To Be Read” list (and none of them are true crime!)
Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher
First of all, I love Carrie Fisher. What an icon. Princess Leia? The role of a lifetime. But also, she was just so unapologetically herself. Have you ever watched any of her television interviews? She was delightful. I can only assume that a memoir, written herself, would be just as irreverent and bold. I’m really looking forward to it, and I don’t think I’ll struggle to stay invested in this one.
Mamba Mentality: How I Play by Kobe Bryant
I’ll be honest, I grew up more of a Michael Jordan fan, but there is no denying the absolute genius of Kobe Bryant. And I’m excited about this deep dive into how he approached the game, and the details of some of his iconic matchups. I figured since I love sports documentaries, I will probably also enjoy sports memoirs so I’m giving this one a chance.
Spare by Prince Harry
I’m not too proud to admit that I love a bit of royal drama. Maybe because, as an American, I don’t really understand life with a monarchy? But I find it fascinating. The weddings, the scandals, the conspiracies, the rumors… I will eat that up. I devoured the Harry and Meghan documentary on Netflix, and I can not wait to see what kind of tea Harry spills in this memoir.
