The Ralph Bunche Neighborhood Association (RBNA) and the Benton Police Department will host the second annual Kicktoberfest October 28th at 3 pm at Ralph Bunche Park, 1300 S. East Street in Benton.
Kicktoberfest is a “Back the Blue” kickball event designed to show support for law enforcement in Benton. The family-friendly event will include goodwill competitive games of kickball, hot dogs and music. The general public is invited to attend the free event.
The deadline to register your team is October 26th. Teams of 8-15 persons may register for $35. Contact Robin Freeman at 501-722-8089 or email [email protected] or Linda Smith at CADC by calling 501-778-1133. All funds raised will support the RBNA Youth Council.
This second annual Kicktoberfest is a result of community members working together to improve community relationships with law enforcement. The planning committee includes members of the Ralph Bunche community, a predominantly African American neighborhood in Benton, including Sha’Nell Beaugard, Tina Pharoah, Vincent Robinson, Shannon Winston, Jerica Alford, Deanna Watts, Linda Smith and Robin Freeman. Kicktoberfest originated in 2016 as a way of bringing the community together and to show support for law enforcement.
“We believe that by developing strong community relationships and collaborative partnerships with law enforcement, we can promote greater public safety, address the underlying issues that contribute to crime, and help transform our respective organizations to more effectively respond to the needs of our communities,” said Freeman.
The mission of the RBNA is to unify the community, promote economic and community development and encourage pride and safety in the community. For more information, contact Freeman at 501-722-8089.
