Saline County Circuit Clerk Myka Sample has issued a warning that there is a scam going around in Saline County and Garland County.
Someone calls and says you missed jury duty and they tell the person to go to Dollar General and buy a pre-paid credit card. Then they say not to call anyone else because the federal government has tapped your line.
They give the person a certain amount of time to call you back to collect payment in the form of telling the credit card numbers over the phone.
There are instances of multiple local residents being scammed out of their money – as much as $4,500, according to Sample. If you get a call like this DO NOT give out any information or make any kind of payment. Call the Circuit Clerk’s office at 501-303-5615 or the Sheriff’s office at 501-303-5609.
