According to Saline County Circuit Clerk Myka Bono Sample, citizens are reporting that they are receiving fake phone calls about jury duty. The caller tells citizens they have failed to be present for jury duty and must therefore pay a fine or be arrested.
“The Circuit Clerk’s Office would never call a citizen to inform them they have a a warrant for jury duty,” stated Sample.
The scammer is telling the citizen that if they pay a small fee, the warrant will be recalled. The scammer is trying to obtain credit card or debit card information to clean out the citizens bank account.
Sample advises, “Please do not ever give any credit or debit card information to anyone that is trying to collect on a warrant.”
If you receive a phone call on this matter, try to obtain the phone number of the caller, if possible and contact Circuit Clerk Myka Bono Sample, at 501-303-5615 or call the Sheriff’s Office.
