Circuit Judge Casey Tucker announced today her candidacy for the Court of Appeals Judge position that will be vacated by Judge Rita Gruber, who recently announced her decision to retire.
“I first extend my sincerest appreciation to Judge Rita Gruber for her fairness and impeccable reputation when serving Pulaski, Perry, and Saline counties for these many years,” said Judge Tucker.
“As Judge, I have always put the interests of children first when making tough decisions in custody cases, when holding parents accountable, or in fostering grandparent visitation,” said Judge Tucker.
“I agree with those who say our justice system takes too long to issue a final answer. I believe we must provide clear answers, especially to families and victims of violent crime. A streamlined appeals process can help do just that,” said Judge Tucker.
“As a family law judge, I apply the rule of law every day; I know firsthand the importance of having an effective and quick appeals process, one that gives people a speedy, final decision,” she added.
“Judge Tucker has a proven record of working extremely hard and offering immense respect to those who appear before her. Her judicial temperament is fair but no nonsense. Her real-world experience makes her the perfect candidate for this position, and she will be ready on day one,” said Little Rock appeals attorney Tim Cullen.
Prior to serving as Circuit Judge, Tucker was in private practice for 22 years, representing clients on the very same types of cases routinely heard by appeals courts. She graduated from the University of Arkansas law school and lives in Little Rock with her husband Mike of 28 years and the couple have two adult children. The nonpartisan judicial election will take place on March 5, 2024.
The State of Arkansas will hold its 2024 Primary & Judicial Election on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
