According to Johhny McMahan, former Mayor of Bauxite, his son Jorre McMahan, a football coach at Hampton Schools, died Tuesday afternoon. He was 26 years old.
Johnny said, “He was running football practice in Hampton & collapsed on the field & died.”
Jorre was the head football coach at Hampton Junior High and Assistant High School Coach. He was a 2008 graduate of Bauxite High School, a three-year letterman in football and went to University of Arkansas at Monticello football scholarship. That is where he met his wife Alexis (photo above) who he married June 18, 2016.
Johnny and wife Jan are in Camden with the Coroner at this writing. Johnny said the body would be sent to Little Rock in the morning for an autopsy to find the cause of death.
Jorre isn’t the first in the family to die while participating in sports. The McMahans’ other son Johnny McMahan, III, died tragically 18 years ago from Commotio Cordis after a tetherball hit him in the chest at Benton Middle School. The McMahans also have a living daughter, Jacie.
Our condolences are with the family.
The Hampton Bulldogs are due to play Camden Harmony Grove Hornets on Friday night, September 30th.
