Bryant Water Department Customer Service Manager Bob Joiner released a campaign announcement for Bryant City Clerk. The statement follows.
Bob Joiner announces his candidacy for Bryant City Clerk.
After spending the majority of his professional career in sales and marketing, Joiner started a consulting firm in 2009, StrategEZ, LLC, to help transportation companies lower fuel costs through improved pricing, market analysis, and compliance reporting. In 2015, he responded to an opening in the Bryant Water and Sewer Department which was in need of a Customer Service Supervisor.
“I felt there may be a correlation between the principles I use with my trucking clients that would be of benefit to the City” said Joiner. “Most of my career has involved traveling outside my local market to sell goods and services, but this was an opportunity to be of service in the community where I live and raised my family.”
During his tenure, Joiner has improved the billing and collections process which has reduced billing discrepancies, improving customer service and cost recovery.
Bryant Mayor Jill Dabbs speaks highly of Joiner’s performance in the role. “Bob Joiner has streamlined our billing department during his time as Water Customer Service Supervisor. His ability to see the needs of an office and offer solutions that are both time saving and cost cutting is a rare find. Having that expertise, coupled with his technical skills will lend the same support that is much needed in the office of Bryant City Clerk.”
Bob has also been an active volunteer in the community, serving on the Bryant Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee from 2014-17, serving as its’ Chairman in 2017. At the request of the Parks Director, Joiner took on the task of reviewing departmental revenues and expenses, comparing Bryant to other cities throughout Arkansas along with a benchmark study released by the National Association of Parks and Recreation. The goal was to better understand the needs of the department as it seeks to serve the citizens of Bryant and numerous community groups that use its’ facilities and athletic fields for events and league play. His thorough research guided a discussion regarding the benefit of an Advertising and Promotions Commission and positively affected the City Council review.
Now, Joiner will bring this same passion and knowledge to the City Clerk’s office while doing more for the City of Bryant. “I want to work with our Finance department to create a strategy for improved transparency regarding City finances and provide tools to improve communication of financial activity to the citizens of Bryant,” Joiner said.
Joiner graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications. He and his wife of 32 years, Lori Joiner, moved to Bryant in 1994. They have three children, all alumni of Bryant School District, and two grandchildren.
