A North Little Rock man was hospitalized and then jailed, after attempting to burglarize a Saline County resident’s home, according to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO). The following is a statement from SCSO Captain Shamlin.
On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, SCSO deputies responded to the 10000 block of East Sardis Road in reference to a shots fired call. The homeowner called 911 to report that when he arrived home he encountered an unknown male walking out of his residence. The intruder pointed a firearm at the homeowner who then drew his own firearm and shot at the suspect in self-defense. The suspect then fled the area on foot.

After a search of the area, the suspect was located and taken into custody. The suspect was found to have received a gunshot wound that he sustained when the homeowner shot at him in self-defense. Stolen property was found on the suspect when he was taken into custody.
The suspect, identified as John Nutt of North Little Rock, age 35, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of an injury that does not appear to be life-threatening. Upon Nutt’s release, he will be charged with Residential Burglary and Aggravated Assault.
Criminal Investigators are continuing the investigation and no charges are expected for the homeowner. Watch MySaline for any updates.
