Johnny McMahan died recently due to complications from diabetes, according to an announcement from his sister Pam McMahan O’Neal on social media. He was 73 years old. Read O’Neal’s full statement below.
“Remembering Johnny” John G. McMahan, Jr. January 31, 1951- December 8, 2024 It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of my brother Johnny’s passing last night, December 8, due to complications from his diabetes.
Gary, Randy, and I had gone to check on him on Sunday, December 2, when we could not reach him the day before.
Tragically, we found Johnny unresponsive in his home on Sunday, December 2, and we believe he experienced a diabetic episode that led to a coma. Despite the best efforts of paramedics who transported him to Saline Memorial, where he spent seven days in the ICU, he never regained consciousness.
Johnny was a cherished part of our lives, and his absence leaves a profound emptiness. Please keep his daughter, Jacie, and our family in your thoughts as we navigate this difficult time.
