Two different (local) owners of two different restaurants in Benton have decided to rent their place to someone else and have it be a different restaurant.
First, we’ve got Jimmy’s Diner, on Edison Avenue. Jimmy’s put out an email to customers saying that they would be going on vacation for a week. One patron noticed that they had their equipment outside during that week, giving it a thorough cleaning. Then on Friday it was announced that Jimmy’s would be under new management beginning immediately. As you can see from the sign at right, immediately was Saturday, so I’m a little late reporting this. Cut me some slack, I’ve been out of town. You can keep up with Jimmy’s on their new Facebook page.
Next, we’ve got Bo’s BBQ on Interstate 30, near the hospital. According to a loyal employee, owner Bo Dyer will be shutting its doors on Saturday, August 16th. Dyer will rent the building to a local couple to open a Cajun seafood restaurant. Tentative opening date is September 1st. You can still eat Bo’s BBQ this week, Mon-Sat from 11-7. There is a new Facebook group called Bo’s BBQ Memories, where you can join and share or just read.

Adding to this story, Mo’ Betta Gumbo will be opening its doors soon in the old Bo’s BBQ location.
