According to the Benton Police Department (BNPD), Jay Self, 37, of Benton, was arrested April 12, 2018 at a home at 35 Azalea Circle in Benton and several types of drugs, guns and cash were seized.
In response to citizen calls, BNPD’s Special Investigations Unit obtained a search warrant for this residence and found methamphetamine, LSD, marijuana and other narcotics being distributed from the home.
In all, the seizures were:
- over 2 ounces of methamphetamine,
- approximately .5 ounce of cocaine,
- over 1.5 pounds of marijuana,
- approximately .5 ounce of psilocybin mushrooms,
- multiple dosage units of assorted prescription pills,
- assorted drug paraphernalia
- and 14 firearms (one confirmed stolen from Garland County in 2017)
- multiple packages containing varied amounts of unknown powders
Self was taken into custody without incident at the residence and faces charges of
- Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms,
- Maintaining a Drug Premises within 1000 feet of a Drug Free Zone,
- Possession of Methamphetamine with the Purpose to Deliver,
- Possession of Cocaine with the Purpose to Deliver,
- Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance with the Purpose to Deliver,
- Possession of Marijuana with the Purpose to Deliver,
- Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance with the Purpose to Deliver,
- Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons,
- Theft by Receiving (stolen firearm), and
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
All are felony charges. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests and charges may be forthcoming.
