Of all the high octane desserts that still call to me after all these years, it’s cheesecake. I get angry when I see cheesecake, because once you understand exactly how loaded just one slice is with fat, sugar, and calories, there is no way to justify eating it.
Forget how many hours on a treadmill it would take to burn one off, we are talking about days. If you cross-country ski in Norway for a month, then you can get away with having a slice. If walking to the mailbox constitutes the bulk of your daily steps, it is off the menu unless you want to start rolling down the driveway soon.
A slice of regular plain Jane cheesecake weighs in around 830 calories, 51 grams of sugar, and 59 grams of fat. If you get a fancy one with chocolate toppings, you can be looking at 1,580 calories for one slice, with 116 grams of fat and 104 grams of sugar. For some perspective, now that I’m in my cut phase, I’m trying to stay around 1,800 calories for the entire day.
