Word travels fast in a small town, so most people reading this will already know that James Thomas Posey, Jr., of Benton (or just “Posey” as he was called) passed away on Monday afternoon, January 14, 2019, while driving toward home in his truck. The family has set a visitation service for friends and loved ones. It is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 19th at Ashby Funeral Home, 108 W Narroway St, Benton, Arkansas 72015.
The dress code is casual (jeans and t-shirts). Instead of flowers, the Posey family requests for visitors to bring a written favorite story or memory they had of Posey. Extra pens and paper will be at the visitation service.
The family stated that all are welcome to attend and wanted locals to know that, “He loved everyone in this town dearly. Thank you to all that have called, texted, and swung by the shop to show their support.”
There is a Facebook event set up so you can RSVP and make a comment: facebook.com/events/287260885311618/

Posey’s Service was established in 1988 after he worked several years with another service station and then bought it. For years, the location was at 300 North Main Street in downtown Benton. In late 1999, Mr. Posey purchased a larger property nearby at 104 E. South Street, and there they’ve stayed. Read more on the history of the shop here: poseysbenton.com/about
I didn’t know Mr. Posey personally, but I know his wife Wanda to be one of the sweetest people around – and anything I’ve heard about James Posey has been of the same opinion.
