Book: The Seat Filler
Author: Sariah Wilson
My Rating: 3 stars
Okay, my sister read this book and told me it was delightful and that I had to read it. So, of course, I waited like a month before finally getting to it. And I totally agree with her, it IS delightful. Sariah Wilson is an author I can always count on to write a clean, funny story. Now, that being said, I did have some issues, which is why it only got three stars from me. However, it was still a delightful read.
A couple of things you need to know about this book. One: If you ever had a celebrity crush, this will be super relatable for you. Two: Apparently, Adam Driver was a big inspiration for the author’s movie star main character. I loved the meet cute in this one. It was totally ridiculous and had me laughing. Our main characters meet at an award show and one is a seat filler while the other is a movie star. Hilarity ensues. It’s awkward, there’s good banter, and lots of great chemistry. All things a good romcom should have!
My biggest problems were the two main conflicts in the story were kind of “meh” for me. I almost feel like Sariah just put a bunch of random conflicts in a fishbowl and drew one out and then had to write it into the story. It was so far out in left field, I struggled to get past it. I pushed through because my sister told me I would break her heart if I gave up on it. And ultimately, I did accept the weirdness and enjoyed the book. It was totally adorable and a quick read over the weekend. I recommend if you need something lighthearted and not too serious.
