A Benton man died on early Friday morning after a collision between a bicycle and an 18-wheeler truck on the Interstate, according to a report from Arkansas State Police. The report states the accident was near mile marker 118, which is close to Congo Road in Benton, Arkansas. Trooper Austin Duncan investigated the incident.

The narrative states that about 2:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023, a 2022 Peterbuilt was traveling west on Interstate 30. It says that’s when Christopher S. McCallister, age 47, of Benton, entered the roadway as a pedestrian and was struck by the truck.
This is the second pedestrian fatality in as many days on the Interstate in Benton.
