So you want to get married in Saline County, Arkansas? This page tells where to get your marriage license, what to bring with you, the days and times you can go, the cost and more.
The first step for the couple is to bring identification and payment to the Saline County Clerk’s Office. Come between 8:00 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. to 2155 North Main Street, Suite 9, Benton, AR 72015. Bring $60.00 for the registration fee. You can pay in cash, local check, or credit/debit card with a $3 processing fee. You must also bring a valid, government-issued photo I.D. Both parties must be present.
The process takes about 10 minutes if no one else is in line. Once your license is issued, you have sixty (60) days from that date to get married. After the wedding, the ordained minister who performed the ceremony, along with the couple, will fill out the information and sign the license. The license must be returned to the Clerk’s Office for recording – whether used or unused – within sixty (60) days. The couple will keep the original document after it is recorded.
While you are there in the Clerk’s Office, you can get a list of those who are ordained to perform a wedding ceremony. There are several local judges and justices of the peace who have the authority vested in them. However, you may choose anyone who is ordained in the state of Arkansas to perform your wedding.
In some cases, one or both members of the couple may be under the age of 18. If this is the case, both parents must be present for each person under age. Or, if the parents are divorced, the custodial parent will need to be present with the latest court order granting custody. There is a waiting period of five (5) business days before the license can be picked up in such a marriage.
