Hot Springs Village to host hike from dam to dam on April 23rd
Basecamp and Ouachita Mountain Hiker’s Club are warming up for the Fifth Annual HSV Dam to Dam Hike. It will start at Lake Balboa Spillway Trailhead with pre-hike stretching led by Coronado Fitness Center instructor Donna Eason, and then begin the trek to Desoto Beach. There the group will board the Basecamp Boat and finish the journey with a cruise across Lake DeSoto to Waypoint. This year there will also be kayaks available at DeSoto Beach if you’d like to paddle your way to the finish. The hike is approximately 10 miles dam to dam. This year there’s a 5 mile and 3 mile option for those who think 10 miles is a bit much. There will be hike leaders on Hernando Trail at Grove Park and the POA Admin building to meet you and guide you to Waypoint for the after-hike cookout. Registration is required. The hike is FREE! If you plan to come to the cookout, tickets are $8 for HSV POA members and $10 for Non-members. You can choose turkey, beef or veggie burgers. All come with side dish, chips and a drink. A shuttle will be provided back to where you started the hike. RAIN DATE IS TUESDAY APRIL 28TH. Contact Michael at [email protected] with any questions.
