The Arkansas General Assembly invited the 2021 Bryant Hornets Football Team to the State Capitol Thursday morning to be recognized for the amazing feat of a 4-peat… four consecutive state championship wins in a row.
Former State Senator and Bryant Alumnus Shane Broadway escorted the team through the building. Governor Asa Hutchinson congratulated the team and coaches. Read the legislative resolutions below, highlighting different members of the team.
The Hornets had a perfect season in their 7A Conference, with a 7-0 record.
Representatives Lanny Fite, Julie Mayberry and Keith Brooks, along with the Saline County legislative delegation, presented the House resolution. State Senator Kim Hammer presented the Senate resolution honoring the Hornets. See the photo gallery below

19 WHEREAS, the 2021 Bryant High School Hornets football team claimed the
20 Class 7A state championship trophy after defeating the Fayetteville High
21 School Purple Bulldogs with a 42-38 victory at War Memorial Stadium in Little
22 Rock, Arkansas; and
23
24 WHEREAS, the 125-member Bryant Hornets football team were led by head
25 coach Buck James to the school’s unprecedented fourth consecutive state
26 championship; and
27
28 WHEREAS, Malachi Graham was named the most valuable player of the Class
29 7A championship game; and
30
31 WHEREAS, the Hornets were also supported by additional coaches,
32 including assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Kirk Bock; defensive
33 coordinator Quad Sanders; linebackers coach Travis Queck; defensive line
34 coach BJ Schuller; offensive line coach Shane Clancy; running backs, tight
35 ends, and special teams coach Adam Pendergrass; receivers coach Julian Jones;
36 and defensive backs coach Turell Williams; and

2 WHEREAS, the Hornets were supported by athletic trainers, including
3 Christa Finney, Heather Jolly, and Dr. Adam Carson, P.T.; and

5 WHEREAS, the Hornets were supported by additional staff, including
6 Pastor Robbie Tingle, Pastor Peter Cunningham, Seth Alkire, Bryant High
7 School Principal Dr. Todd Edwards, Superintendent Karen Walters, and Athletic
8 Administrator DeeAnn Shepard; and

10 WHEREAS, Coach James said, “Winning a fourth straight championship is
11 an amazing feat. I am so proud of our student athletes — proud of their
12 discipline, their hard work, and commitment to the team which made this
13 happen”; and

15 WHEREAS, Bryant Athletic Director Mike Lee and his staff also provided
16 exceptional leadership in the operation of the athletic department to support
17 the success of the team,

19 NOW THEREFORE,
20 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
21 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:

23 THAT the House of Representatives congratulate the Bryant High School
