Above is the live press conference from Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson and other state officials.
Notes of interest are as follows:
- State Procurement team has 2 million PPEs coming and the order is said to ship at the end of the week. An extra $30 million has been allocated by the state for PPEs.
- Individual income tax payment and filing extended to July 15th, 2020. Corporate filers and estimated payments will remain on the same date as previous years.
- Revenue forecast is lowered by $353 million. Special legislative session needed to “fill holes in the budget.”
- They want to make sure the Department of Health, Emergency Management and other state agencies have enough money to operate.
- There’s now a map on the ADH website that shows the number of COVID-19 cases in each county. “An increase of 9 is the smallest increase we’ve had in a day for several days.”
The following businesses are directed by the Department of Health to close the following effective Tuesday, March 24th, 2020:
- Barber, Beauty, Massage Therapy, and Tattoo Services.
Current COVID-19 Cases:
- 10 – children 18 and under
- 101 – ages 19-64
- 63 – ages 65 and over
In answer to a question from the press, Governor Hutchinson stated “We’re not planning any layoffs.”
