Here are some Key Notes, Statistics, and Video for Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson’s news update on the COVID-19 pandemic, along with updates and guidance from Dr. Jose Romero, who will serve as Interim Secretary of Health.
The Governor began with some charts to show progress of the virus in the state, including some regional breakdown.
The Governor made an announcement today about three executive orders that he signed during the press conference with members of the Arkansas legislature in attendance. Legislators had discussed creating a special session in order to address immunity for liability from COVID-19, but they and the Governor agreed that an executive order during the pandemic would be the right thing.
The orders begin June 15th and run through the official end of the pandemic in Arkansas.
- Executive Order 20-33 immunity from liability for businesses
- Executive Order 20-34 Public Health Community
- Executive Order 20-35 workers compensation as a result of COVID-19 in a causal relationship
Dr. Romero stated “There are no linkages at this time to businesses such as restaurants, barbers, religious centers, daycares, or gyms.”
However, he also said there are 629 active cases related to poultry manufacturing in the state of Arkansas. There are 829 poultry manufacturing cases recovered and a total case count of 1458.

Statistics for Saline County as of the end of the day yesterday were:
- Total Positive: 181
- Active Positive: 50
- Recovered: 129
- Deaths: 2
- Negatives: 6,496
