Land Commissioner is one of seven state constitutional officers. The land commissioner oversees the disposition of tax-delinquent property and is also responsible for some historic preservation initiatives and the leasing of natural resources on state-owned lands.
Land, and his wife Judy, live in Heber Springs. He is the former chairman of the First Republican Congressional District of Arkansas.
The committee will also hold an election to fill a vacancy for third vice chairman. That position is open because the previous third vice chairman moved out of state.
