A Shannon Hills man allegedly shot and killed his adult child, according to a police report. Frederick Austin, age 61, was arrested Tuesday, December 26, 2023. The incident happened in the afternoon hours.

Mr. Austin is charged with Murder in the First Degree, a Class Y Felony. He also has a charge for Aggravated Assault, a Class D Felony, due to a fight that ended with a third person.
Police say the 28-year-old child may have been accidentally shot after he tried to break up the fight. Mr. Austin’s bond is set at $1 million.
