The Historic Royal Theatre is bringing Footloose to the stage in 2024. Get tickets now to see this fun production, performed by the Young Players Second Stage troupe, and sponsored by Arvest Bank.

Adapted from the successful 1984 film, the story follows teenager Ren and his mother, who move from Chicago to a small farming town. It’s a new home, town, friends and high school to deal with, but the biggest adjustment is a local ban on dancing. The local preacher made the edict to control the youth, but his own rebel daughter makes things difficult for everyone.

This production includes a lot of that forbidden dancing, with the #1 hit soundtrack songs from the film. That includes title song “Footloose,” “Let’s Hear It For The Boy,” “Almost Paradise,” “Holding Out For A Hero,” and “I’m Free (Heaven Helps the Man).”

Footloose opened on Broadway on October 22, 1998. The next day, the show broke the box office record for the Richard Rodgers Theatre, where it continued to thrill audiences through July 2000. With a screenplay and lyrics by Oscar winner Dean Pitchford, the story focuses on young people, much like his wildly successful movie musical Fame.

The January 11th and January 12th performances will feature understudies in the roles of Ren, Willard, Ariel, Rusty, Wendy Jo, and Urleen.
