Around 11:00 p.m., a call came into Saline County dispatch that a vehicle was stuck and needed help. The police report says it was located near 25873 S. Sardis Road. The street was covered in water and the silver passenger car was swept off to the side and sinking.
According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Yates, along with the Sardis Fire Department, arrived on the scene in minutes. The report states that Deputy Yates went to passenger side of the vehicle, opened the door. The deputy then assisted the driver out of the vehicle before it was fully submerged in water.
The vehicle was still nearly covered in water at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, as shown in the photo above, sent in by a reader.
Meanwhile, across the county, an apartment complex off Alcoa Road had water pouring in. Residents at Revive Apartments (recently rebranded from Chapel Ridge) called for help and the Benton Police Department came open the door and let them out.
The water was deep enough on the outside of the apartments to come up to a man’s knee. He said no one was hurt, but they are working on cleaning up today. Thank you for the photos the residents sent in.
There were more stories of people getting caught in flood waters. Continue to be careful out there today, since the water is higher in our lakes and rivers, and there are trees down in places.
