State Representative Lanny Fite announced his intent to seek his third term in the Arkansas State House of Representatives. Fite is serving his second term as a State Representative in District 23, which includes a portion of Saline County. He currently serves as the Assistant Speaker Pro Tempore and sits on the House Judiciary Committee, the House City, County and Local Affairs Committee, and Legislative Joint Auditing. Earlier this year, he received the 2017 Business Matters Leadership Award from the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce.
“It has been my honor and privilege to serve the people if District 23 in the House of Representatives. As a legislator, my job is to stand up for the values of Arkansans and be a consistent voice for them,” stated Fite. “My track record shows I am a proven conservative, and with your help, we can continue working together to ensure fiscal responsibility, protect life, and create a pro-business environment so we can grow, expand, and provide opportunities for hard-working Arkansas families.”
Fite has spent his time in the legislature fighting for conservative causes, including tax cuts. In 2015, he fought hard for the one hundred million dollar tax cut for middle class taxpayers and to reinstate the capital gains tax cut. He is also a Vietnam Veteran and supported our military by co-sponsoring legislation that provided a $13.4 million tax cut for Military Retirees (Act 141). In 2017, he co-sponsored pro-life legislation (Act 42) and supported harsher sentences for criminal offenses against law enforcement and first responders (Act 332).
“I have committed to investing in my district and working hard to ensure we are a community where people want to live, work, and play,” stated Fite. “I am excited about the opportunity to continue fighting for policies that will bring good jobs to our state, lower the tax burden on Arkansans, and stand up for life.”
Prior to serving in the legislature, Fite served as Saline County Judge for 16 years and served in the United States Army. He also owned a small business, Arkansas Asphalt, for 17 years. He and his wife, Sherri Adams Fite, have two children, Kellie Turner and husband Joel, of Southeast Asia, and son, Adam Fite and wife Heather, of Fayetteville and 5 grandchildren. They live in Benton and are members of Holland Chapel Baptist Church.
