First Electric Cooperative announced that their member-supported Operation Round-Up program awarded $18,038 to 16 local organizations in July.
Members who enroll in “Operation Round-Up” volunteer to have their electric bill rounded up to the next even dollar amount each month. They have donated more than $999,000 for local service organizations and scholarships for high school seniors since 1998. Members may enroll by calling 800-489-7405 or looking under the “Community” tab at www.firstelectric.coop.
In Saline County, New Beginnings Pregnancy Resource Center received $500; and Civitan Services received $1,000.
Recipients in other counties include:
- Garland County – Literacy Council of Garland County received $500.
- Independence County – Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Independence County received $500.
- Lonoke County – Lonoke County Safe Haven received $1,000; Down Syndrome Advancement Coalition received $500; and Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Lonoke County received $1,500.
- Perry County – Civic Improvement Association of Perry, Arkansas received $1,000; Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Perry County received $1,500; Rose Creek Community Center received $500; and Perry County Day Service Center received $2,000.
- Pulaski County – Pulaski County 4-H Foundation received $1,000; and Feed Arkansas Kids received $1,510.
- White County — White County Aging Program, Inc. received $1,000; Antioch Fire Department received $2,528; and Pangburn Fire Department received $1,500.
