The City of Alexander, Arkansas has enacted an ordinance to limit the sale and discharge of fireworks. The following tells who may discharge fireworks and on what days, as well as prohibited locations and fines that may occur from violations.
People that are addressed in this ordinance:
- Businesses or individuals must get a privilege license to sell fireworks within the city limits of Alexander.
- Children under the age of 18 must be supervised while possessing or using fireworks.
- Individuals must use fireworks in a safe and sane manner, not endangering life, limb or property.
Use of fireworks is not allowed:
- within 300 feet of a public park.
- on a public street, alley, road or right-of-way.
- in a vehicle, whether it’s moving or not.
- within 300 feet of a gas station, gas, oil, or propane storage facility, or other area which is highly flammable.
- during a burn ban.
Use of fireworks is allowed during these days and times:
- on July 3rd – Noon – 10 p.m.
- on July 4th – Noon – 10 p.m.
- on December 31st – Noon – Midnight
- on January 1st – Midnight – 1 a.m.
Other requirements and info:
- The people using the fireworks are responsible for cleaning up the mess afterward.
- The people using the fireworks are responsible for any damages or injuries resulting from violations of this ordinance. The court may also order restitution for first responder services.
- For those not following the ordinance, authorities can take fireworks away and/or give a ticket for a fine

- $200 – 500 for 2nd offense
- $300 – 500 for continuing offenses
