UPDATE DEC 13, 2019
The final suspect, Austin Jones, age 19 of Benton, was arrested early this morning in connection with Wednesday’s commercial burglary of a firearms dealer in Saline County. During the arrest, two additional stolen firearms were recovered. Jones is currently being held in the Saline County Jail facing charges of Theft by Receiving (2 Counts) and Fleeing.
PREVIOUSLY DEC 12, 2019
Local deputies and ATF agents arrested several suspects in relation to the burglary of a firearms dealer.
Early on the morning of Wednesday, December 11th, several suspects broke into a Saline County firearms dealer and stole over 40 assorted firearms; including rifles and pistols, with an estimated value of $50,000. Security camera footage and other evidence located at the store assisted detectives in locating the suspects.
Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) detectives, with the assistance of special agents of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF), have arrested five suspects.
Curtis Carter, age 19 of Haskell, and Tyson Lopeman, age 18 of Alexander, were arrested, along with three juveniles on similar charges. Authorities are still seeking one more juvenile male.
Carter is charged with the following:
– Commercial Burglary
– Criminal Mischief 1st Deg.
– Criminal Trespass
– Theft of Property (41 Counts)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance
– Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
– Fleeing
– Furnishing Prohibited Articles
– Theft by Receiving
Lopeman is charged with the following:
– Commercial Burglary
– Theft of Property (41 Counts)
– Criminal Mischief 1st Deg.
– Criminal Trespass
